- Subarctic to subtropical west and central Palearctic in woods, gardens, oases: British Isles and north Scandinavia east to north-west Kazakhstan, north Xinjiang (north-west China) and Krasnoyarsk (south-central Russia); in south to Iberian Pen., Madeira and Canary Is. (Macaronesia, west of north Africa), Morocco to Tunisia (north-west and north-central Africa) and north-east Egypt, Mediterranean to Turkey, Cyprus, Levant. north Iraq and north Iran through Altai region to south-east Kazakhstan
