- Breeding range
- IO, PO : Verkhovsky and Karamzhin is. and satellite islets (south-west of Vladivostok, Russia), off Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu (central Japan), Korean Pen., off Shandong and Guangdong (east China) and Taiwan; possibly also Macaronesia (off north-west Africa)
- Non-breeding range
- Through seas of east Indonesian Arch., Ashmore Reef (north-west of Australia) to west and south India and Sri Lanka, Arabian Sea, and off north-east African coast, mostly north of Equator
